While we’ve observed that it maintains performance at a high standard, essentially on par with the R9 7900X, if it manages to have remarkably low power consumption, then it’s undoubtedly advantageous. In our measurements, we did indeed observe lower power consumption at peak.

Undoubtedly, the difference is remarkable and evident. The newer R9 7900 offers superior energy efficiency and performance comparable to the R9 7900X.

Final thoughts.

With the results we have at hand, there’s a clear winner between these two CPUs. The R9 7900 emerges as a more value-for-money (VFM) option compared to the R9 7900X and significantly improved. The minimal differences favoring the R9 7900X are primarily attributed to the higher core speed but are imperceptible to the user. However, in all other aspects, the R9 7900 is superior. It boasts a lower TDP, reduced power consumption, and maintains efficiency without sacrificing performance. Furthermore, it includes AMD’s Wraith Prism processor cooling solution, further reducing costs and saving users money on additional cooling solutions.
